If you ask a dealer to tell you how much a car would cost, chances are they'll ask what make, what model and what options. Don't be fooled by "one price gets you a Web site" ads. If a car dealer gives you a price of $3,000 without asking for the make, model and options, rest assured you'll be driving home a rusty Yugo with 300,000 miles on it. You get the picture. |

| As I was attempting to illustrate above, it is difficult to quote on "custom" creative work. From project to project the time involved can vary greatly due to the complexity of each assignment. Those companies offering flat rates for Web site design are most likely utilizing prefabricated design templates that will be used for other businesses, possibly by your competitors. Flat rates are often inflated. Some design elements may take hours while others may only take minutes. This is why I offer hourly rates with average times as a guide. This will help alleviate paying for time not really spent on your project. Go with true custom design and avoid the embarrassment of "wearing the same dress to the prom." |

| An average 8 page site may take approximately 15 to 30 hours to complete. This page is to provide you with an idea of what it might cost to design a CUSTOM Web site. A site could actually cost as little as $150 or less if it is extremely simple. On the average it's closer to $500 with planning, illustration, graphics, photos and building of pages. There are also plenty of cases where the cost could be in the thousands. You know your budget, I'll help you accomplish your goals while keeping budget in mind. Once an actual project has been outlined an accurate time/cost estimate can be agreed upon. |

Hosting buyers beware! Remember to evaluate carefully those "great deals" out there offering "cheap this" and "free that." They're usually "to good to be true" rip-offs. Here's an exception to the rule. I refer my clients (big and small) to a free hosting service by www.DotEasy.com simply to let them get there "Web" feet wet before investing money in hosting fees and services they might not ever need. DotEasy does NOT put any advertising banners or messages on your site. You get a generous 100 Megs of space, 10 email accounts and Web mail. (I've seen $20 per month hosting out there with only one email account and no web mail) Here's the only catch (painless to you and very smart on there part), You "pay" for the free hosting by letting them send you "junk mail." I'm sure you get some now so you might as well get something in return. I do not profit from DotEasy other than to possibly design your Web site. I own a number of sites and to prove my confidence in their reliable FREE service they've been hosting KramlDesign.com (this site) since 2000. If you grow out of their free service you can upgrade (at VERY reasonable prices) to their robust fee based hosting or simply move on to another host of your choice. Kraml Design is here to design for you not to resell virtual hosting. If you desire I can also assist in researching and making recommendations regarding what hosting company to use.

Site Maintenance (many sites require little or no maintenance):
- Standard (Simple) Updates to text/revisions/date changes/deletion of outdated items/scheduled deletions or document postings etc.
($50 per hour/avg. time is 15-30 minutes for a handful of changes, would be billed monthly)
- Maintenance Fee Option: A retainer situation vs. monthly billing may also be set up to spread out an estimated cost of maintenance/additional pages. Example: $25 per month to take care of an average of 3 standard revisions/postings a week. (12 per month)
